Here is a list of the 2024-2025 monthly meetings, workshops, and other activities.  All dates and times are subject to change.

In-person meetings are held at Harvey Wheeler Community Center, at the corner of Main Street (Rt. 62) and Church Street in West Concord.  Meetings begin at 7:15pm and will be cancelled whenever Concord Public Schools are closed due to bad weather.

September 18, 2024 – Pam Weeks
Soft Protest
Pam Weeks is the curator for the New England Quilt Museum. She will talk about the history of story telling, raising social awareness and protest in textiles and quilts. Stories were quilted into bed coverings as early as 1400, and protest quilts go back to 1830!

October 16, 2024 – Gloria Loughman
Share the Journey
Join in and be entertained listening to a humorous account of the many challenges that befall an Australian quilting teacher as she travels the world.  Learn of her inspiration and the techniques she uses to create her large landscape quilts. Lots of images and close ups of quilts that have won awards around the world.

Light Up Your Landscape – A Guild Event
We will take an online class and meet to work on landscape quilts with tiled backgrounds. Tiling areas of your quilt allows you to make gradual changes in color and value, creating perspective and allowing the light to flow around your design. You can use a provided pattern or your own. Course covers design principles, including perspective and focal point, plus discusses a variety of color schemes.

November 20, 2024 – Laura Rosenspan
Places, Real and Imagined
Laura will share her inspiration for each of her landscape quilts, along with the story behind every scene and the methods and techniques used. Laura loves to share her secrets to inspire quilters to try some of these techniques.

December 11, 2024 – Holiday Party
Come join us for a delightful Holiday party complete with cookies and finger foods, and an optional gift swap.

January 15, 2025 – Julian McLeod (via Zoom)
Everything but the Cotton
When quilters don’t have access to a stash of quilter’s cotton, what do they turn to? Julia will give a lecture and trunk show about quilts – antique and modern – that show what you can create with neckties, saris, kimonos and other unusual, ‘not cotton’ textiles.

Let’s Get Rolling on Your Quilting/Creativity Goals
Mel will tell us about her playful approach that will stretch your creativity and help you achieve your quilting goals! Discover how rolling the dice can help you have fun while you make more art, tidy up your studio space, experiment with your newly organized supplies, tackle UFOs, stretch your quilting skills, and uncover a wealth of design inspiration. You’ll leave with lots of ideas to create your own unique game plan to incorporate creative play into each day, all year long. She will also include many examples of her creative work.
