You’ve probably noticed that the website has changed. We’re in the process of updating and changing some features on the website. More information will be added as the update process goes on. Watch this space for new things!
Our monthly meetings are at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center (1276 Main Street), at the corner of Main Street (Rt. 62) and Church Street in Concord, MA. Regular meetings begin at 7:15pm, but we have a social hour from 6:30pm until the meeting starts. Please come early so you have time to sign in, grab a seat, and see all of the opportunities available that month for activities and get togethers.

September 17 – Monthly Meeting – Speaker: Elin Waterston, “Finding Your Voice”. Co-author of “Art Quilts at Play”, Elin will speak about how to develop personal imagery and motifs, color palettes and construction techniques to create a signature style.
September 18 – Workshop – Elin Waterston, Fabric Collage. In this workshop, students will learn design fundamentals by creating a collage with a photograph or other image (printed or transferred onto fabric) as a central focal point as well as experiment with abstract collage compositions, learn construction techniques and how to incorporate found objects and ephemera into their collages.

October 15 – Monthly Meeting – Speaker: Kathie Alyce, “Our Passion for Quilting”. An inspiring lecture on how to free up creative energy. There really is an artist in each and every quilter. Kathie will help us to recognize our own artist within.

November 15 – Open Sew
November 19 – Speaker: Pat Pauly, “Traditional Meets Contemporary: A Look at the Heritage of Traditional Quilts and their Influence in Contemporary Design”. Pat gives an expansive look at the long history of quilt making, and its change and rebirth in the twenty-first century. Presenting over 400 images in the span of an hour, she takes a fast-paced look at the craft that has endured in America for nearly 250 years.
November 20 – Workshop- Pat Pauly, “The Big Leaf”. Build this large graphic leaf using freezer paper to form the design templates for a final 24” x 24” hanging, or combine with three additional blocks to make a stunning quilt. Pat Pauly will show you how to transform a line drawing into templates, how to choose fabric and color and assemble this “Big Leaf” quilt. At the end of this class you will know how to translate your own designs using this freezer paper method.

January 16-19 – Retreat – Getaway Weekend. Spend 3 days and nights, 2 nights, 1 night or just a day sewing (and laughing) together on the ever-popular Getaway. Held at the Colonial Inn, Gardner, MA.
January 21 – Speaker: Dilla Gooch Tingley, “Fabric is truly my medium”, says our own local artist from Lincoln, MA. Dilla will share with us her fiber art creations and her process.
February 7 – Open Sew
February – No monthly meeting because of the Quiltathon.
February 21 – Quiltathon. St. Matthew’s Church, Central Street, Acton 8-4 Make a quilt top and back in advance, if possible. Bring your scissors and thimble. Lunch will be supplied.

March 21 – Workshop – Sue Pelland, Leaves Galore Techniques. In this class you will make samples of some of the things you can do with Leaves Galore. We will make several samples of fused leaf and vine borders, flowers, dragonflies and more. Come see how Sue’s quick rotary cut appliqué technique can enhance your quilts.
April 15 – Speaker: Joan Ford, “Scrap Therapy Trunk Show”. Joan gives a fun and funny talk: a perfect opportunity to see a hearty sampling of her quilts from “Scrap Therapy Cut the Scraps!” and “Scrap Therapy Scraps Plus One!” Joan will also be vending her books, kits and fun stuff.
